Regular dental floss still works around the teeth supporting your bridge. Under the middle section, you’ll want something that can pass beneath the bridge without forcing it.<\/p>\r\n
A floss threader is a good starting point. You thread the floss through the loop, guide it under the bridge, then pull the threader through. Super basic, but it makes the whole thing much less fiddly.<\/p>\r\n
Take a piece of floss and attach it to the threader. Then gently guide the threader under the bridge from the side. Don’t snap the floss down. If you have to force it, stop and change the angle.<\/p>\r\n
Once the floss is underneath, hold both ends and move it gently back and forth. Work along the underside of the bridge, especially near the gumline. You want to loosen anything hiding there rather than aggressively scrubbing the area.<\/p>\r\n

Water flossers are also worth considering. They feel quicker, and getting around the underside of a bridge with a steady stream of water is often easier than wrestling with floss every night. I wouldn’t use one as an excuse to stop cleaning between the teeth, though.<\/p>\r\n
If floss repeatedly catches underneath your bridge, the fit could need checking. A rough edge or tight contact area can make cleaning unnecessarily difficult. Your dentist can examine the bridge and make sure everything is sitting properly.<\/p>\r\n
So give yourself a few tries before deciding you’re terrible at flossing around a bridge. The first couple of times are clumsy. Then your hands remember the route, and it just gets out of your way.<\/p>\r\n
