A girl popped into Envy Smile Dental last Tuesday clutching a mug of tea. She had chipped two of her upper teeth biting into a hard crusty roll, and she felt awkward smiling at her university lectures.<\/p>\r\n

She asked me outright: is tooth bonding actually suitable for upper teeth, or will they snap the next time I eat lunch?<\/p>\r\n

I told her: upper teeth are the easiest teeth in your head to bond.<\/p>\r\n

Top teeth have big, flat front surfaces with lots of strong enamel. That gives our dental glue plenty of room to grab, making the repair super tough. We don’t have to drill into your sound enamel at all.<\/p>\r\n

The only thing I keep an eye on with upper teeth is how your bottom teeth glide against the backs of them. If I leave the composite too thick on the inside, your lower jaw will bump into it when you talk. So I smoothed the palatal backs carefully and checked her bite with blue carbon foil.<\/p>\r\n

I patched both chipped corners, cured the resin with our blue lamp gun, and buffed the edges until they felt silky smooth.<\/p>\r\n

She spent about forty minutes with us, didn’t need any injections, and walked back out into the town centre with her smile sorted.
