She told me she looked in the mirror one morning and hated how stubby her front teeth looked. Whenever she grinned, you could barely see any white enamel peeking out from under her top lip.

She looked at me and went: can you actually fix short teeth with bonding, or do I have to get my gums chopped back with a laser?

I told her right away: bonding is honestly your best bet here.

Think about it this way. If someone has short teeth, the last thing on earth they need is a dentist taking a drill to shave off more tooth structure. That makes zero sense.

With composite resin, we do not cut anything away. I took a tiny dab of blue etch gel, cleaned the edges, brushed on some liquid glue, and literally sculpted white composite paste straight onto her biting tips while she watched in a little hand mirror. I built each tooth down by a couple of millimetres, softened the corners, and set the paste hard with our blue light gun.

Whole thing took about 50 minutes. Zero numbing needles. No drill buzz. She had a brew, checked her new smile in the car mirror, and was buzzing.

People always ask how long lengthened teeth hold up. Honestly, composite resin is tough stuff. Most patients get five or six years before they need a quick polish to get rid of tea marks. If you happen to crack a corner on a stubborn pistachio nut, don’t sweat it. You just pop back into our chair, and we stick a fresh patch on in ten minutes flat.

Just remember to slice tough apples with a knife and avoid using your front teeth to bite open Sellotape or plastic parcels.

Visit our page on composite bonding London to explore treatment options, costs, and expert advice.

A lady came into Envy Smile Dental last Tuesday feeling quite down about her mouth.
