Bone grafting for dental implants is a procedure that rebuilds or augments the jawbone volume in areas where insufficient bone exists for implant placement — enabling patients who were previously told they lacked the bone for implants to proceed with treatment. At Envy Smile near White City, bone graft requirements are identified by 3D CBCT imaging and assessed by Dr Hemani Gill at consultation.
Bone Grafting for Implants at Envy Smile
"I had been told by another dentist I had too little bone for implants. Dr Hemani reviewed my CT scan and explained bone grafting clearly. After the graft and implant, I now have a permanent tooth where I had nothing."Patient Review ★★★★★
When a tooth is lost, the surrounding jawbone begins to resorb (shrink) due to the absence of the stimulating forces of chewing. Over time — particularly if a tooth has been missing for years — the available bone volume can become insufficient to place a dental implant safely. Bone grafting restores this volume, allowing implant placement to proceed.
Bone graft materials may be autologous (taken from the patient's own body), allograft (cadaveric bone from a tissue bank), xenograft (bovine bone), or synthetic. The most appropriate material is determined by the extent of the defect and Dr Hemani Gill's clinical assessment. In some cases, a graft and implant can be placed simultaneously; in others, the graft is allowed to mature for 3–6 months before implant placement.

Opens implant treatment to patients previously excluded. Bone grafting enables implant placement where bone volume has been lost — expanding the number of patients who can benefit from fixed implant-supported teeth.
Prevents further bone loss. Placing an implant after grafting stimulates the bone through chewing forces — preventing further resorption and preserving the facial structure long-term.
Thoroughly assessed before any treatment. 3D CT imaging at Envy Smile identifies precisely where and how much grafting is required — ensuring the graft and subsequent implant placement are planned with maximum accuracy and safety.
